Transform Prisons

As well as campaigning for fewer people in prison, the Howard League also campaigns to transform prisons for those who would remain behind bars.

Levels of suicide in prison are at their highest in a decade. There were more homicides in prison in 2015 than in any other year on record. Here you can learn more about the Howard League’s work on prison reform. Read about initiatives such as our Centre of Excellence on real work in prison and our inquiry into preventing prison suicides. Browse our regular monitoring of prison overcrowding and learn about past projects such as our Commission on sex in prison.

As well as the links on this page, you can find our reaction to the latest prison inspections in News & Views, read our latest Briefings and Submissions and browse reports on a host of relevant topics in Publications.
