Criminal justice in England and Wales has reached a pivotal moment.
A landmark review of sentencing, led by the former Secretary of State for Justice David Gauke, has reported its recommendations, including proposals for earned release and a greater role for the probation service.
The government has responded by announcing a raft of measures aimed at ending the prison capacity crisis – with the promise of new legislation in the pipeline.
Decisions taken now will have significant consequences for a system on the brink of collapse.
Join us for an online event that will look at: what the sentencing review proposed; what the government intends to do in response; and what needs to happen to deliver a lasting solution to the crisis.
This online event will be hosted by our Chief Executive, Andrea Coomber KC (Hon.). The panel will include:
- Andrew Neilson, our Director of Campaigns.
- Tim Kerr, our Membership Officer.
- Kelly Grehan, Policy Manager at Revolving Doors.
Book your place for this free event, on Wednesday 11 June, 2.30pm to 3.45pm, online via Zoom webinar. Entries through this page are now closed, but click here to request a link to the event by email.
For anyone who cannot make it, this event will be recorded and made available on our YouTube channel.
