Certified Normal Accommodation (CNA): 297
Having been used as accommodation for female munitions workers during World War II and a men’s prison afterwards, Drake Hall has been a women’s prison since 1974. In recent years, it has gone from being an open prison, to semi-open, to its current designation of ‘closed’.

About this information
Certified Normal Accommodation (CNA) is the prison service’s own measure of how many prisoners can be held in decent and safe accommodation. Any occupancy above CNA means that the prison in question is overcrowded.
