Child arrests 2013 ReferencesThis briefing presents analysis based on freedom of information data from all 43 police service areas in England and Wales, and the British Transport Police.
The data shows that the number of child arrests since 2008 has reduced by almost two thirds (59 per cent). The briefing includes examples of successful local initiatives that police forces have developed to avoid criminalising children, and makes a set of recommendations that will help consolidate the reduction in numbers of child arrests.
