In prison, people are swept into a powerful river of crime, isolating them from their family, friends and communities, and channelling them towards violence, drugs and despair.

And yet we send more and more people there.

Prisons are overcrowded and people are left with nothing to do and not enough support.

People are being hurt. People are dying.

This is a national emergency.
