The Great North Run will be held on Sunday 11 September 2016.
More than 1 million runners have taken part in the Great North Run since it began in 1981. Six runners are taking part in 2016 to raise money for the Howard League for Penal Reform – including Natalie, who has explained in her own words why she entered the race.
Another Howard League member, who ran the Great North Run in 2014, said: “The Great North Run is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, with some 57,000 runners taking part, and it was a privilege to be involved. You start in Newcastle, which is one of the UK’s best and friendliest cities, and then you head over the magnificent Tyne Bridge to Gateshead.
“Thousands of people line the route to cheer you on, and you get a wonderful view of the sea as you arrive at the finish line in South Shields.”
If you already have a place in the race and would like to run for the Howard League, please email us and we will send you a technical t-shirt and fundraising pack.
Before allocating places in Challenge Events the Howard League may carry out discreet and confidential checks to ensure that the activity is suitable for each applicant.
